What are these clever tapes? They are double strips of paper that enclose pre-spaced seeds. When the tape comes into contact with the moisture-bearing soil, the paper gradually breaks down and allows the water to penetrate through to the seeds, thus kicking off the germination process. seed tapes make seed sowing simple, even for beginners. And, apart from the ease of sowing, another advantage of using seed tapes is that the seedlings need far less thinning out. They are already evenly spaced, so you don't end up with clumps of crowded seedlings. as with any other edible crop, much of your ultimate success depends on good soil preparation. Choose a sunny, well-drained garden bed (or pot) and mix some gentle fertiliser into the soil. Yates blood and bone or dynamic lifter pellets would be ideal. Water well, allow to drain and create a one-centimetre-deep groove in the soil. Lay the tape along the base of the groove. Length doesn't matter as the tape can be easily broken off at the end of the row. Cover and water again. there are five varieties in yates seed tapes range: baby carrot, carrot manchester table, spring onion straightleaf, broccoli and radish red rubin. All come with full instructions and are suitable for sowing at this time of year. Why not give yates seed tapes a try!
