Position

To make your hardenbergia thrive, plant it in a sunny to partially shaded spot. Look for a location that receives ample sunlight, especially in the afternoon.

Soil

Hardenbergia prefer well-draining soil with good organic content. Boost your soil's organic matter by blending in Kings Compost and Kings Sheep Pellets. Mix these thoroughly with the soil. If you're growing hardenbergia in containers, opt for Kings Container Mix, which contains water storage crystals to retain moisture.

Plant

When transplanting into the ground, gently remove the plant from its pot. Dig a hole that's twice as deep and wide as the plant's root ball. Create a mix of Kings Compost, Sheep Pellets, and Tui Novatec Premium Fertiliser, then combine it with the existing soil. Fill the hole so that the top of the plant's roots align with the surrounding ground level. Press down the soil firmly and water generously with Aquaticus Organic Garden Booster. In areas with heavy clay soil and poor drainage, plant Hardenbergia on a raised mound and introduce Gypsum Clay Breaker to improve drainage.

Care

Watering

Hardenbergia require decent watering throughout summer and during flowering. Water slowly to ensure moisture reaches the root zone, preventing runoff. Hardenbergia dislike waterlogged conditions, so ensure your soil is well-draining. For potted plants, avoid letting the pot sit in water. During the summer, water generously, preferably in the morning.

Feeding

Apply Aquaticus Organic Garden Booster every two weeks during spring. Additionally, use Tui Premium Novatec slow-release fertiliser in spring and summer to provide continuous nutrition.

Mulching

Mulch around the base of your hardenbergia plants, being careful not to let it touch the stems. Mulching helps control weeds and retains soil moisture.

General Care

Whenever using sprays, chemicals, or fertilisers, always read and follow the label instructions carefully. To protect beneficial insects, apply sprays in the evening.
