Prepare
Position
Dry terrariums, planted with cacti and succulents will need a well lit sunny position. But should be kept out of direct sunlight.
Soil
Use a free draining potting mix, such as Cacti and Succulent Mix.
Plant
Before you start make sure that your plants have been watered. Spread a layer of sand or pebbles in the bottom of your glassware that is at least 1cm thick. Sprinkle a very thin layer of activated charcoal on top of the sand. Place a layer or potting mix to plant your plants into, this should be around 3cm deep. Carefully plant your plants into the soil, firming the soil down gently around the plant. Now its time to decorate your creation by layering small stones and pebbles around your plants, you can also use driftwood, little ornaments or shells to make you masterpiece.

Watering
Dry terrariums do not need lots of water. Mist rather than pour water into the soil as they are easily over watered. A good misty once a week should be enough.

Keep an eye out for mealy bug and other insects pests.
