Prepare

Position

Parlour Palm prefers a position that is out of direct sun, a cooler position is best.

Soil

Parlour Palms need a free draining soil so it is best to plant into Kings Indoor House Plant Mix, which is especially formulated for indoor plants.

Plant

Repot your palm once the roots are showing in the bottom of the pot. Pot into a new pot 1-2 sizes larger than the one it was in. Repot in spring.

Care

Watering

Chamaedorea likes to be kept evenly moist, not wet or dry and should never be allowed to sit in any water. Allow the top 5cm of soil to dry out before re watering.

Feeding

Feed regularly with Kings Liquid Indoor Plant Fertiliser for lush green fronds.

Spraying

Mites can be a problem with Chamaedorea, especially when grown in a hot room. Spray with Mavrik at first sign of pest.

Pruning

Cut off any lower leaves that have gone brown or faded.

General Care

When using sprays, chemicals or fertilisers always read the label and follow the instructions carefully. Apply sprays in the evening to avoid harming beneficial insects.

Beginner Tip

Brown tips on the fronds indicate incorrect watering.

Expert Tip

Mist your palm daily with water to increase the humidity, this will help keep mites away as they like hot dry environments
