The Aloe Vera plant is a succulent plant species. It grows abundantly in tropical climates and has a long history of being used for medicinal purposes. Its natural habitat is hot and dry, making it an ideal plant for arid gardens.
Planting Calendar
Aloe vera can be planted anytime of the year.
Prepare
Position
If growing indoors Aloe vera is best grown in a warm, brightly lit room, but out of direct midday sun. When grown outdoors plant in a hot sunny position either in the ground or in a pot.
Soil
When planting into the ground aloe likes a very free draining soil. If the soil is heavy or clay, improve drainage by adding Gypsum Clay Breaker, Kings Organic Compost and some pumice mixed into the soil. When planting in containers, use Yates Cacti and Succulent Mix.
Plant
Gently tap the plant out of its pot. Dig a hole twice the depth and width of the plants root ball. Mix together Kings Compost into your existing soil. Back fill the hole with this soil, so that when planted the top of the plant’s roots sit level with the surrounding ground. Firm the soil down gently and water in well with Aquaticus Garden Booster
